ACT Festival 2023 Future Legends

국립아시아문화센터(ACC)에서 주최한 ACT Festival 2023 ― Future Legends에서 ACC전문인이 제작한 메타버스 전시 프로그램 <Notag>에서 ACC전문인의 초빙으로 제작 및 전시한 작품. HADAL은 김진웅이 직접 제작한 알고리즘 작곡 프레임워크 kcac를 기반으로 작곡 피아노 파트에 디지털신호처리 기법과 오디오비주얼라이제이션 기법을 활용한 멀티미디어 형태의 작품이다.

The Asia Culture Center (ACC) welcomes you to ACT Festival 2023 — Future Legends.

Now in its eighth year, ACT Festival has served as a platform at ACC for the exchange of art and technology, presenting a diverse array of creations from ACC’s residency, research, and educational programs and fostering collaboration and idea exchange among organizations and experts.

ACT Festival 2023 — Future Legends draws inspiration from David Bowie’s song “Future Legend.” This song, inspired by the science fiction novel 1984, describes a dystopian future city overrun by mutant rats, fleas, and peoploids (robots). These dystopian elements commonly found in the science fiction genre reflect the anxieties of a public feeling marginalized by accelerating technological innovation. In particular, the rapid advancement of AI, represented by ChatGPT, is transforming what were once mere dystopian fantasies into reality, giving rise to dark urban legends. At a time when vague anxieties are growing into actual fear, ACT Festival 2023 — Future Legends brings together collaborating organizations, creators, researchers, and engineers to discuss the present on the verge of an inflection point and the future cities we are poised to construct. Lewis Mumford, a philosopher and critic of civilization, believed that a balance between art and technology could sustain the wholeness of machine civilization and coined the term “eutopia” to describe this ideal. Is the future city we are shaping bound to be a dystopia that is subject to machines? Or will it be an eutopia that harmoniously integrates with technology? Join us at ACT Festival 2023 — Future Legends and draw the first page of the future legends standing at the crossroads of dystopia and eutopia.
