Coalescence and Dissipation
Coalescence and Dissipation is an audiovisual performance that investigates the morphological transition of digital "moisture" and its vertical kinetic energy through a custom-built algorithmic framework. The work explores the poetic and physical implications of humidity, not merely as a visual representation, but as a dynamic sonic environment driven by real-time computational processes.
The aesthetic foundation of the piece lies in the stark contrast between two systemic states: Architectonic Rigidity and Atmospheric Fluidity. At the center of the visual field, monolithic "turret" structures emerge as points of Coalescence. These dense, geometric forms serve as the algorithmic nuclei where abstract data streams solidify into perceptible sound and shape. Sonically, these turrets manifest as low-frequency, structural foundations and complex, intertwined rhythmic layers, representing the "Solid State" of the data.
In contrast, the surrounding textures undergo a continuous process of Dissipation. Ethereal particles break away from the central turrets, ascending through the virtual space as stochastic Vapors. This upward trajectory visualizes the evaporation of data, where the once-solid structures dissolve into fluid, high-frequency sonic grains and granular textures. This vertical movement creates a sense of "Algorithmic Hydrology," where the listener experiences the constant phase transition of sound from dense clusters to volatile, airy dispersions.
The work is executed by an integrated audio-visual algorithmic system, where the visual particle behaviors and the sound synthesis parameters are inextricably linked within a single generative engine. By removing the boundary between the "seen" and the "heard," Coalescence and Dissipation invites the audience to perceive the organic evolution of a digital ecosystem—one that breathes, rises, and dissipates in a perpetual cycle of phase transitions.
